1. The problem

The assessment of clinical trainings (knowledge, skills and attitudes) carried out by nursing school professors and health centers, allowed to identify changes in the attitudes' area and the need to reinforce some formative aspects.

At the Aarhus university in Denmark, when academic staff is hired, they are asked for their research qualifications. This is still regarded as the most important grounds for hiring. But as part of the university’s strategy academic staff is since 2005 also asked to supply a teaching portfolio.
