Open University of Catalonia (FUOC)

The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (FUOC) was founded on 6 October 1994. It is an open on-line university governed by a board of trustees made up of the Generalitat de Catalunya (regional government). The E-Learn Center is an e-learning research, innovation and training centre, focusing on higher education and lifelong learning. The eLC’s main objectives are:

  1. To make a significant contribution to research and innovation in the use of technologies for learning and training.
  2. To encourage best practices in education, based on the use of ICTs to improve teaching and learning processes.
  3. To encourage training in e-learning with a range of higher education (postgraduate studies, master’s degrees and PhDs) along the lines promoted by the eLC and in response to current demand.

The eLearn Center works in three basic areas of e-learning: Teaching and learning processes, Organisation educational management and policies and Technological resources to support learning.

In regards of all the operational and financial management of the project, we have the OSRT (Research and Transfer Support Office) in our University. This office aims to meet the needs of the teaching, research and management personnel at the UOC in an agile and effective way. It is also the contact point between the university and its environment and it offers a wide range of services to researchers.

The OSRT has managed about three hundred projects in the last  6 years,  at the regional, national and European level. With the financial support of Community Programmes FUOC have participated in several projects: IST-Programme, 7 PM, EContentplus, ALFA, and Lifelong Learning (Erasmus Programme and Transversal programme Languages), as a partner and as a coordinator.
