The CRA is a not for profit company limited by guarantee and registered charity.  It operates as a membership organisation for those with an interest in recording achievement in educational contexts, reflection within the learning process and ePortfolios, and also carries out strategic, policy research and evaluation within its areas of interest. Its members, which include 46 universities, are drawn from across the lifelong learning sector, inclusive of employers and professional bodies.

EPortfolio related work:

The CRA plays a national strategic role in relation to ePortfolios  and is represented on the national ePortfolio expert reference group. It undertook a national evaluation of Progress File, including in it’s e-format – for the UK Government. In 2005 it undertook a benchmarking survey of e-pdp and ePortfolio practice in UK HE for the Higher Education Academy UK. The CRA also has an international profile in the field of ePortfolio development and reflection in learning. It has acted as ‘critical friend’ to the national ePortfolio, and Developing a Systematic, Cross-Faculty Approach to Teaching and Assessing Reflection in Higher Education (DRAW)  project in Australia, has played a co-ordinating role within the Inter/national Coalition for ePortfolio research and is a reciprocal member of AAEEBL (the Association for Authentic, Experiential and Evidence-Based Learning).  In the UK it recently concluded a national Project to supporting Employer Engagement through EPortfolios, and acted as evaluator to the JISC funded Digital Enhanced Patchwork Text Assessment Project (DePTA).
