AGH University of Science and Technology Centre of e-Learning, Poland

AGH- UST is one of the biggest technical universities in Poland, with 15 faculties and around 30 000 students. Centre of e-Learning was founded in 1996 as an independent unit of AGH - UST to cooperate with the faculties and provide technical and pedagogical support in on-line teaching and learning. Awarded Centre of Excellence by Polish Ministry of Science in 2005. CeL takes part in national and international cross-disciplinary initiatives to develop, implement and promote TEL. It focuses on the idea of openness in education in terms of open access, open resources and open technical solutions. Key interests are: learning design, PLE and eportfolios, social software, open source tools and technologies, open education, integration of tools and mash-ups, e-learning pedagogies.

CEL is a member of: EADTU (European Association of Distance Teaching Universities) KRPUT (Association of the Rectors of Technical Universities in Poland), Coalition of Open Education (Poland) and Open Coursware Consortium.

EPortfolio related work:

CEL has been involved in eP related activities since 2006 when “Mosep: More Self-esteem with my ePortfolio” LdV project was launched to develop learning materials for educators, conduct a series of workshops and implement tools for eP development (http://www.mosep.org/).

CeL has participated also in EU Structural Funds Projects where eportfolio was implemented for:

  • 60 engineers taking part in postgrad. pedagogical qualification studies (IT2EDU 2008-2010 http://mublog.cel.agh.edu.pl/it2edu/) to support their progression and reflection;
  • pupils and secondary schools (eSWOI http://e-swoi.pl/ 2010-2013 ) to facilitate introduction of innovative programmes in ICT and mechatronics;
  • students in university’s business incubator (http://www.aip.pwsz.raciborz.edu.pl/);

It was also implemented internationally further on in LdV Dedico Project (FLOSS for self-directed learning, 2009-2011) and TOI LdV Mapped where open course for self-learning on ePortfolio in the context of professional development is created.

Currently CEL is working on implementation eportfolio for own students with the view to new national qualification framework introduced by Polish Ministry of Science and also collaborates with The Polish Information Processing Society for ECDL eTeacher Certificate.
